should chins have the same age friend?

okay so i got my very first baby chinchilla for christmas shes now 6 months old and shes just the sweetest thing ever!:wink3: I was thinking about getting her a friend. And i was wondering do I have to get one that is the same age or could i get one thats older than her? im really stuck here and i dont know what i should do. if someone could anwer me i'd REALLY appriciate it.

They don't need to be the same age. I've had chins get along that are quite a bit apart in age. But as noted, there's no guarantee that two chins will ever get along, regardless of age (and even if they do get along, chins can turn on each other at any time).
 
You also might want to give her a little more time to get settled before you get her a friend. If you've only had her since christmas she's not had long to get comfortable. That's your call though, as you'll do what you like.
If you get a second friend, be sure you have a backup cage so that there is time for a 30day quarantine and lots of time to let them get to know each other. There are a lot of ways you can do introductions, but all of them take time and some don't work. Some people try playtime together for a few weeks, then taking them for a ride together, switching cages for a little bit, trimming whiskers down and putting vanilla on their nose. There's a lot that goes into an intro and be prepared that it might fail. If they aren't getting along, then you'll need to separate otherwise they'll fight. Try searching for "introductions" and see what you find.
