I have been wondering about this too, and then Sendra pointed it out also several days ago.

It seems like my little three-month old chin has really short whiskers, is this normal or is she doing something to them?

A couple of them do seem to have "split end"-like tips.

Thanks.

Does she have a cage mate? or maybe her mom trimmed them? Dominant chins usually trim the other chin's whiskers.

It might've been that, I don't know if she was kept in a seperate cage when her former owners had her.

After all the information I've been reading, the more and more I'm worried about the chinchillas in this other family's care. :banghead:

I bet that the mama chin did this, like Britteny said. I have mother chins that trim their little babies' whiskers to keep them more in check. Chewing off whiskers is definitely a dominant behavior. It doesn't hurt anyone, I wouldn't worry too much about the whiskies on this little one...they'll grow back and chins can't chew their own whiskers that short. :)

My poor Muntz hasn't had whiskers in about six years. Milla has chewed them down every single time they've started to grow out.
