I would like to attend and possibly participate in a show in the next year..what shows are the closest to la or ms?? I'm serious about wanting to start showing and going to shows but being in college and working its hard to travel to shows over 9 hours.. :(

I heard the empress show is going to be held in GA this year but that may still be a rumour...it has been held in NC last couple of times.

That would be wonderful..I would definitely be able to make a show in Georgia..I want to begin showing so bad. I have gotten rid of MANY of my chinchillas so that I can replace them with proper quality to hope to start showing.. just for now closer shows are my only options.

Yah, not many people raise chins (legitimately) in the south. I drive 7/8 hours to Ohio for shows from here. I used to drive 10 hours to York from NC. If you can commit to at least one or two a year it's not that bad to be 9/10 hours - good news is the dates are announced way in advance so perhaps you could begin planning now for fall.

I don't know how far it is for you guys, but the show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma the first weekend in December is a really fun show. The people there are really nice and everyone helps out to make a great show. They have a pizza party and social time for everyone after the show on Saturday which is a great opportunity for Q&A for the newer people. It's a ECBC sanctioned show that usually draws competitors from California to Ohio. It's over 7 hours for me, but always well worth the trip.

The shows in Oklahoma and the one that was in Orlando FL are the closest in the last three years. Both 10 hours. If you want to show, you're going to have to drive or fly. :))

I'd have loved to hit the show in Dec, but the weather this year was beyond horrible. I still have chains in my car but I'm perfectly happy keeping them unused as conversation pieces!
