I am going home next week and my dad said he would help me build shelves for my cage but I wanted to get your advice on a few things.

One I wanted to make them as thick as possible, how thick do you guys think is too big/how thick do you normally make them

Also I measured the inside of the cage so I know the dimensions but What dimensions do you guys use for your shelves, like how deep do you make them and how long? (I want to make sure I get it right when it comes to the attachments)

Also what wood would you guys say is the best. I know all the ones that are safe, but if you had a choice what wood would you use?

Oh! One more question lol, for the attachments themselves, do you guys have to space them at a certain distance from each other because of the bars on the FN cage? Or do you just put them on however you like?

Thanks guys!!!

I would recommend KD pine wood be used, because it's probably the cheapest and the easiest type of wood to find.

I don't have a FN, so can't really comment on the shelf sizes and whatnot.

When I've made them, I used kd pine. I've done 24" long. I think they're 4" wide. Mine are an inch or inch and a half thick. I've seen people do 2" thick also. It's really your preference. I don't measure for where I'm going to put the hardware, I just hold it in the cage where I want to place it and make a mark so I know I won't be hitting bars.

You can use poplar wood as well. As far as the size, that just depends on how you want to set up your FN. I'd suggest you and your dad make them in several different sizes, from ledges to longer shelves that way you could switch them out if you want. In one of my boys' cage I have it going from one end to the other along the shorter side of the cage as my chin spin takes up alot of room.
