Shelf material question?

After seeing some people using aspen shavings instead of pine because of allergies, I'm wondering if chins would chew aspen shelves as much as pine?
Caught a sale paper up here from Menards, and the aspen isn't much more than pine, on sale, and my pine is due to be replaced!
Anyone using aspen shelves???

I use aspen and pine ledges. It seem to take them just a tad longer to chew the aspen ledges down.

I know you can use poplar but I think thats more expensive then pine, not sure about aspen's pricing compared to poplar.

I got some Aspen from Mernards last weekend, it was on sale and was cheaper than poplar, so far it has held up. We will see how long it lasts. )
