So I was wondering, for those of you that have the FN 142 and are using it as two separate cages, what did you use to block off the hole between the two sections? I am thinking of getting another male chin to try to introduce to Zim (a REAL male this time lol) and was thinking if it doesn't work out then I could just keep them separated in it. Just wanted to know how that could be done. Thanks.

I switched the one with the hole with the one that is supposed to be used for the shelf at the bottom of the cage.

You could simply turn the top pan the wrong way, and then put something down (granite slab, fleece?) so the chin isn't walking directly on the wire (cut-out section). Or, you could buy a pan from Bass Equipment that's made to fit the Ferret Nation. You could just buy the regular one without the cut-out.

I turned the plastic pan around the wrong way, and then I put two pieces of shelf wood in the hole so they do not walk on the wire. I use fleece liners, so I have my plastic pans wrapped in a layer of fleece, and I put the wood under that as well, so they don't pull it up and play with it (because of course they try). The Bass pans would probably be easier, but I can't stand the look of the galvanized metal, so this works for me.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. Think I'm going to become a member of the FN club very soon. Been looking at the pics you guys have on here for cage decorating ideas buahahaha

Since I don't use the ladders because they aren't safe, I. Hang the ladder that would go down from the hole in the correct spot, then lift it up and it hooks right onto the hook on the piece w the cut out.

Does that make sense?

I have 2 FN cages. One open, one closed. 2 live together, and the other 2 will have the opening to see each other, but not live together...unless they'll get along...but we wont't find that out for awhile. The baby has to grow first. But he can take his time:)

Anyway, if you do the cage that way, or w the turned pans, that will be easier to see if they get along and can live together or not. Then when you know if they are happy together or not, then you can buy the bass pans with or without the cut out. I love my pans...and I'm waiting to see about the other 2 guys before I order a set for my second cage. I hope that helps a little:)

QT, yeah that did help actually, I'm sure once I see the cage in person it will make more sense about the ladder thing you mentioned. I think for now I will wait on the bass pans until I know whether or not they'll get along, like you said. That sounds like a good idea.

If you can't figure out what I'm talkin about, I can email you pics or something. A friend came over tonight to see what I've been trying to explain through texting. Lol

I love my bass pans! Anything to help with poo!
