I was looking at homemade toys, etc for small rodents and I came across this: http://www.ehow.com/how_4517327_dye-wood-non-toxic-pet.html. Just wanted to check and see if this is a good idea or not. Seems safe, but I wanted to see if anyone else had input. Thanks!

Yeah, lots of members dye their toys with SUGARFREE koolaid.

Yes, dying wood that way is safe. However, if you have a light-colored chin, you may end up with a multicolored chin... or a chin with a messy mouth and paws...

To be a little more specific, yes you could use the Kool-Aid packets to dye the wood but you get the regular unsweetened packets and don't add sugar to the powder -water mix. Do not get the sugarfree packets of kool-aid as they already contain a sweetener in it, which is not good.

Yes, I assumed no sugar added. Excellent, I'm great with tools and will likely do that. Good to mention about lighter colored chins too, wouldn't want them to get all messy =)
