I have a digital kitchen scale from Walmart ($20ish) that goes up to, I think, 5lbs but can be switched to grams and does it per gram.
Previously I bought a postal scale that went up to 50lbs but in gram mode, it only weighed in 5g increments. I still use this scale for weighing out food and dust orders by the pound, but it's useless for the chins.
I also had a small postal scale from Walmart that had a "hold" function I really liked - once the chin stopped moving for more than a second it would catch that weight, make a "beep" sound and display the number even after I took the cage off the scale. With that function I could go about my cage cleaning duties while the chin was moving about on the scale until I heard that beep, then record the weight. But that scale only went up to 3lbs and if I had a heavily pregnant chin that was large already, the weight of her and the show cage combined was too much for it.
So I like the kitchen one I have now except that it doesn't have that hold function, I have to watch the display and get the number when the chin settles down.
