I was cruising instructables.com, and I found this. I thought it would be super cute in my Aunt's chinchilla cage (I give gifts to my family's pets too...). That could be made for a chin cage, right? Would I have to use different fabric? I am not too sure about the pompom especially...

If you use polar/blizzard fleece, they'd be safe. Mine would be more likely to sleep *on* it than *in* it, but there are a bunch of pics of chins in fleece hides/beds/pouches that love them to death.

I know! I think it would be super cute for a chinchilla! (I am not fond of rats)

I think it'd work for chinchillas if you just made it in to a hidey house type thing, so it's more square-ish or cylinder like I've seen some done and can be hung up.

It's adorable no matter which way; on a side note rat pets are so adorable and friendly! They're like ferrets with a bald tail, in my opinion.
