Runs after mounting?

My boyfriend and i have a male and female chinchilla. They seem to get along fine and are ready for kits when the situation presents itself. However, whenever the male mounts the female he runs away a second later without any signs of them "gettin busy". Is this normal behavior? They were introduced about a month and a half ago.

Chins can mate in a moments time. How old are they? The male may not be mature enough yet...

I guess what the biggest question on this thread is going to be is, you know you're a breeder right? And that to breed the animals should be of a good quality graded or judged by someone knowledgeable?
