Rocks

Would anyone happen to know on what type of rocks are safe for chinchillas to chew? I want to put a few in the cage since I hear that it's not good for chinchillas to always be on flat surfaces and that the stones will encourage the natural chewing on stones seen in wild chinchillas to wear down their teeth. I know that flagstone is sometimes sold as ledges in pet stores, but who knows what's safe from those places, right?

We used to buy chunks of the rock blue cloud dust is made of from our breeder until she passed. I know that others also sell this and recommend asking the vendors here for them.

Blue Cloud rocks and pumice stones are safe for chins.

I have put actual rocks in the cage that I've found in fields and forests. I always scrub them down and boil them to make sure they're clean. They seem to get a kick out of sitting on them and peeing on them

My Rosey loves pumice. She also likes the lava ledges and lava triangles too.

I use pumice stones and lava ledges. I just ordered a blue cloud rock to see if Maci likes that.

I've never heard that all flat surfaces are bad though... dunno

Yes, I do sell Blue cloud rocks even the dust. The chins will chew on them and make alittle bit of dust then they will rub their faces on it.
