Helga went in for emergency spay early this morning (1am). I had a feeling since Friday something was not right with her. I couldn't put my finger on it though. I noticed a decline in her appetite since Thursday but new she was due on the 27th so I really didn't think much of it. I worked 16 hr shifts Saturday and Sunday and was told she was fine. I had hubby physically check her twice. Well when I got home at 12:30 this morning I went down to check on her. Something just told me to check as I never check that late at night. Usually I go down first thing in the morning. I pulled her out and sure enough a whole bunch of pus and ick coming from her vagina. So off to the hospital we go where I get to use my old rusty vet tech skills and we opened her up. Before we spayed her we took a peek into her uterus and all three of the kits were dead and boy were they ripe. So we had 1 girl and 1 boy and the third I believe was a girl but was decomposing soo bad that it was hard to tell.

Helga is still alive this morning. I will be heading back to the hospital to pick up some supplies to start treating her. I hope she makes a speedy recovery. With as bad as the infection was there is still a chance she may not survive. She was pretty toxic.

Fingers cross and healing prayers for her.
