We were just given a 7 or 8 year old chinchilla. He doesn't look like he was well taken care of. Big patches of fur are gone. He didn't have a good home. He was kept outside in a garage with very little play things and the bottom of the cage was all wire. I need help on whats best for us to help him get well. He is curious and friendly. He's not super skittish, but he does seem a little unhealthy. His cage was covered in weevil bugs and had spiders/spiderwebs. We would like to eventually move him in with our other male chinchilla, but I want to make sure he is completely healthy.

Lots of healthy good quality pellets, hay, and fresh water is the best medicine assuming he doesn't have any medical issues going on.

A vet check up might not be a bad idea either. Just to make sure he doesn't have anything going on that isn't noticeable right off.
