repairing fleece

My girls managed to tear open a side of their fleece pillow. I can sew up the whole, but im worred about the thread being exposed.

can the chins have any problems with that?

You can sew it shut with a hidden stitch.

I call this an invisible seam. The website is calling it a ladder stitch. Either way no thread should be exposed. http://www.embroiderersguild.com/stitch/stitches/ladder.html When you're done don't tie a knot, just continue sewing and then change the direction and sew that way. I've only had these pop open after years of going through the washing machine. When that happens just fix it again.
