Hello, my name is Katie. I recently received a chinchilla from a friend who no longer wanted her. Her name is Eleanor and she is approx 1 year old. She is wonderful. I had wanted a chinchilla for the past three years, and now I finally have one:) She loves to sleep through the day(like all chinnies) and usually sleeps most of the night too! LOL. She loves to leap from ledge to ledge in her cage, and also loves to run all about in my bathroom(chin-proofed room) I have to block the toilet off with a metal play pen because she would always hide behind it. I'm hoping to go to a college that will allow me to keep her, but if I can't I have family near the college I will most likely go to. I'm hoping they will keep her. If not then she can stay home and my niece can take care of her.Until then, I am going to cherish EVERY moment with her. I'm thankful I found this website so I can come here with my questions:)

Thank you! I do have a question. Where can I find a cheapish all chin safe cage. The one I have is full of plastic(came with her) Would it be easier to just make some wooden shelves and replace the plastic ones?

Welcome to CnH. :)

It would absolutely be cheaper to just add wood shelves and replace the plastic ones. It will also help to make the cage more sturdy. The cage most pet owners on here seem to like is the Ferret Nation and it's definitely not cheap.

welcome. eleanor is a cutie! i saw the othe thread where you got a ferret nation. congrats. that is a great cage. have fun decorating!

Thanks guys! I'm waiting on the people to get back to me about the FN. It is missing the bottom pan, is there anything I can put in the bottom under the fleece instead of the pan? Would towels work?
