Recently got a new cage, tried using this wheel in the past when his original silent spinner broke, he never used it so I bought a second plastic wheel which is toasted now also. I figured I'd leave the big metal wheel until he figures out how to use it. is that wrong? Heres an image of the wheel/cage I have set up.

There looks to be a large distance from the bottom of the wheel to the shelf. That wheel doesn't have a wide running track, so the chinchilla could fall very easily.

agreed. have the wheel over the cage floor or over a wider shelf and put closer to the shelf.
