Red Foot on Chin

Hey everybody,
I was playing with my chin Merlin today and noticed that his back foot has a "sore" on it. Its very red and looks possibly scabbed thought I've not seen any blood in the cage or on Merlin. He is behaving normally and hopping about per his usual. He does gnaw at it occasionally and the fur is gone on that toe. I really want to help him out because I don't want him to be in pain. I've attached pictures but they are not the best as he doesn't sit still for very long! Please help! Thanks!

Does he have a cage mate? Possibly could have gotten nipped and is infected or could have possibly gooten scratched and infected. You may need to get some antibiotics for it.

He is an only Chin and has not had any contact with other animals, just with me. It doesn't appear to be getting worse, I've been putting neosporin on it for a couple of days now and it also seems to keep him from gnawing on it. Still concerned until it gets better though. He isn't showing any signs of a fungus either.
