They are a totally differant mutation. But if you saw the pics. Then I am sure you read the origin of the mutation that is posted above the pics.

I am aware of both mutations, and that they are completely separate. But which to call "THE" recessive white was what I was wondering (as it popped up in another thread). Didn't know that the recessive white I was originally thinking of was referred to as the fading white.

IMHO since neither mutation discussed in this thread is a "recessive white" Then I would say "THE" recessive white would have to be the albino and /or the "Stone White" thart appeared in the early 1960's

They aren't recessive? What are they classified as then? Or is it still not really known? Or because they technically aren't really "white"?

IMO...if you have to have two carriers of the gene to produce the offspring that would be a recessive mutation. They aren't entirely sure about the fading whites because no one worked with them for an overly long period of time where it could be proven. The Lowe recessive white is in fact a recessive white.

The debate over the Lowe Recessive White is whether or not it is in fact white. It's proven and known to be recessive. It classified as a white at an MCBA show, however some feel it is actually a strain of beige.

I agree with Luke in that if you're going to call any recessive and white mutation "THE" recessive white mutation, it would have to be albinism. A complete, total lack of pigment doesn't get any whiter.

I stand behind what I said in my prior post. Neither mutation discussed in this thread is a "white recessive"mutation. and will disagree with any one that claims differant. Especially those who have no first hand knowledge to base their opinion on.

That's true mishalaa...I'd forgotten about that with the Lowe Recessives. I wish we still had the original discussion on that particular mutation. There was a lot of valuable information in that thread.

And I'm assuming Luke from your oh so bold statement that you have first hand knowledge of both mutations? That you have either worked at length with both or talked at length with someone who has? Please...enlighten the masses oh intelligent one.

You are free to assume anything you want. But the only thing I will add to this discussion on this forum is when the entire truth comes out many people will be shocked:thinking:
