Particularly if you're going to let them go outside, get pregnant, and then have the kittens outside. See, then those kittens learn that laying in the middle of the road at night in the dark is a *good* idea... until a truck comes along.

Last night on the way to the bar, we got a phone call: the people we were meeting saw a kitten in the road, moved him off, and were then greeted by 6 more cats. We got the two that seemed in the worst health into a box, brought them here, set them up in an old (cleaned, of course) aquarium with a mesh top & gave flea baths. Today was a trip to a local vet to get flea treatment and worming medication, and I've started calling local rescues to see if anyone can help me place them, or maybe even foster them since I'm not supposed to have any more animals here. I also plan to call the SPCA/Humane Society to report the condition these cats were found in, if they can be linked to the house nearest where we found them (where one cat stayed on the porch by herself).

Pics soon, I promise. In the mean time, I have a box to scoop. :vomit:

It angers me when people don't spay or neuter their pets. I work with a person who I truly like working with but she has an Australian Shepherd she has not spayed. Now a young male Golden Retriever wandered to their place and they have not been able to find the owners so they are keeping him. I keep telling her to get one or the other (at least) altered but she hasn't. I explained to her if they have puppies she may be able to find homes for them but that means there are that many dogs in the shelter no one will take. She seems pretty indifferent to it. She kind of rolls her eyes at me when I get on that rant. It REALLY ticks me off. :banghead:

I know, as a pet owner, it is YOUR responsibility to not add to the unwanted number of pets. I was at the humane society today, donating food and I just wanted to run out of there crying because of all the unwanted animals. I wish there was more I could do :(

Well Rach, where in PA are you? I'm getting the lousy part of rehabbing a stray cat taken care of here (the fleas, the worms, the food and litter training), but if you're in the western half of the state, I could *sure* use some help finding a rescue that will take these guys once they're cleared of freeloaders. Vaccinations and blood tests are going to have to wait until at least 2 weeks from now if I still have them, but I'd love to get them to people who specialize in this sooner. Any suggestions appreciated. :)

Oh I would love to help you out, but I don't live in the western part of PA. I live in Central PA! I hope someone can help you out. :( You have such a big heart to help this poor cat. I am considering voluteering at my local HS to help out. I just want to be more involved.
