Do they have experience with chinchilla teeth and do they have the ability to file them is a biggie. What do they use to put a chinchilla under, what antibiotics do they normally prescribe and what pain medications.
Ask them if they know what antibiotics are safe for chins to use (check the FAQ's for a list to take along as a cheat sheet), how they would treat pneumonia, giardia, bloat. Read through the FAQ's and through the health and hygiene threads so you will know if they know what they are talking about.
