My bf and I just got a chinchilla whose only about 2 months old. We named her Nala. At night she makes this noise and i thought it might be because she went from a cage with 5 others to one by herself. Are the sounds shes making because shes lonely? Also, i was wondering whats a good way to get her to like being handled.

Does she sound like a dog's squeaky toy? If so, she is barking. It's a warning call/I'm scared sound. How long have you had her? The only way to get her to bond with you and become comfortable is to spend time with her. Sit next to her cage, talk to her, read a book out loud, etc. You can even put your hand in her cage and let her come to you. Most chinchillas don't enjoy being held. They would much rather run around and jump on you. Just give her time and she will warm up.

Yup spend as much time as you can with her, what was suggested to me is to wrap them up in one of my shirts and hold her next to my heart so she felt it. Then talk to her to get her to calm down. Two months sounds very young also, I am not expert but I thought Chins had to be 3-5 months before you can sell them. Do you also know if she was still drinking milk from her mother, and if she was separated before you got her, this way she did not just go from having all these buddies to nothing?
