So recently my chinchilla was attacked by our families cat. Momo suffered quite a bit of damage to her left little arm and was taken to the vet. She had skin removed, grafted, and stitched back together. Momo left the stitches in for a little over 8 days and finally she bit them off yesterday. I took her to the vet and she had them removed, she healed pretty nicely according to the vet. During the time she had her stitches in I did not let her bathe, I assumed the dust would creep in and irritate the area even further. Now that the stitches are out I am curious if I can just let her bathe normally or if I should try to hold her and bathe her by pouring the dust on her and avoiding the healing area. Any info or suggestions would be great.

That is the thing she is not completely healed... I do not see muscle tissue like before the stitches, but I can see the new skin forming. She is aching for a bath I feel terrible which is why I am seeking information.

Well its been a few days, but I'd just hold the dust till the skin was closed. She might be itchy for a bath but it wont harm her.

PS- im glad she survived the cat attack!!
