I am wondering if pink white chinchillas have light, or dark pink eyes in person? I know animals with any shade of pink eyes look real light in pictures. What do they actually look like in person?

I am thinking their eyes look albino which is real light, but Im not sure if its that light.

I am planning on getting one, and wonder how the eyes will look.

Thanks!

Pink white is a hybrid of beige and white. All beige, with very few exceptions but including tans and brown velvets, have red eyes. The color ranges from dark ruby red to jelly-bean pink (for **** beige). Pink whites are not albinos, but they get mistaken for them quite a bit.

Wait... if a pink white isn't an albino, then is there such thing as an albino chin? Does it look any different?

Sorry to go off topic.

There is such a thing as albinism in chinchillas, Ash. They are very few and far between though and a recessive like most albinos are in the animal world. You won't see any because they are usually very unhealthy and fail to thrive early on, at least this is what I've been told by ranchers who have seen them. Our pink whites are not albino, they have pigment.

Albinism is universally recessive. Pink white is co-dominant.

There have been albino chins, but I don't know what became of them. If there are any out there now, I'm not aware of it.

The eye color varies between the chins. My pink white has dark red eyes so they are hard to tell if they are red or not in person. I have seen pink whites with bright red eyes no matter what, and some with medium shades.

Yes, like Stacie said the color will vary. It won't be black like you see in dark chins but it varies from very light light red to a dark ruby that almost looks black. My pink white has very dark eyes that look black in some light, but they have a very slight hint of red that you can see when light shines on them. Pink whites are adorable.
