I bought a bunch of wooden pieces such as spoils, stars and beads that are from a bird toy supplies place but when I got them the holes aren't big enough to put them on my kabob hanger and I dont see chain fitting thru there. So my question is for the people who make toys with wire, what kind of wire is safe to use and where do I get some?

i use stainless steel wire that i buy at Home Depot. it works great and is super cheap, like 2 to 3 bucks for a roll of 50 feet!

I've had chins for quite a while and normally buy my hanging toys and refill them a bunch of times. I went to home depot to buy my own wire and picked up Galvanized Steel wire. The warning label says "This product contains chemicals known to the state of california to cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling." Is that what everyone is using?

Leah, is your package of galvanized wire a black (plastic) circle shape and the label in the middle is white and blue? if so, the same brand makes the stainless steel wire, in the same packaging.

That doesn't sound safe. That sounds scary. But I don't know.

No. My wire is a coil in clear packaging. I saw the black spools online. I'll go to my store and exchange for regular stainless steel. Thanks guys!
