I've had the Ferret Nation 182 cage for a couple years now. I was not involved with the assembly however and the pdf instructions online don't really help. The legs are not sturdy. When I wheel the cage around to clean, the legs shift back and forth. My sister in law says its because they forgot to put some sort of washers in there. I couldn't figure out how to tighten anything either.

It's not really been a problem until now because i want to buy the 183 add-on and make a third level. I'd like to take the whole storage part and legs out but i want to keep the casters. :idea:Without turning over the entire unit and uprooting my chins to check, i thought i would ask here if anyone knows if this can be done.

Thank you so much for your help.

I did find midwest cages site and shot them an email just now. this just seems like a dumb question i know but im in a situation right now i just can't check it right now without help. i found this picture

from this thread http://www.chins-n-hedgies.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-134-p-3.html with the modification i want but the thread mentions it's a ferret nation 142 ,not a 182 :(

You can take the bottom storage off, but it has to be on the ground not up. You need the frame of the storage unit to give the cage structure if it's not directly on the floor. Some people have custom made a base or sawed off the legs just below the storage frame and attached castors to that to still have a moveable cage. The 182 are snap together, so there is nothing that you can tighten, also there is nothing that would need washers, just pegs that go in holes, if the cage has the screws and washers it's a 142 not the 182.

thanks Amethyst , i'm kind of bummed as i already have a third bass pan ready to go but im glad i held off on buying the add on. i just recently moved into an apartment and im trying to save space. every time i come up with an idea i royally screw it up, so i'm going to have some friends come over and help me figure out a solution. Midwest did email me back this morning and basically said the same thing, that i have to use the stand. :banghead:
