puppy placement?

someone in my soon to be former office is offering a puppy that is 6 weeks old. how old should a pup be before it is separated from mom? i think it is a pitbull but am not sure.

8 weeks is best and most states require 8 before selling/trading/bartering with a puppy, but they can be weaned at 6 weeks. It's kinda like chins... For a pit, though, 8 weeks is best due to it teaching them how to behave around other dogs a bit better and bossts their confidence, etc.

8 weeks at the minimum, otherwise there may be psychological damage to pup. Some people even wait until they are a bit older to rehome puppies.

To the letter of the law in PA, you can be arrested/fined for transferring ownership of a puppy under 7 weeks of age. Not sure about where you live, but that might be worth looking into. It should be listed with the licensing requirements for dogs, whatever department handles that.

it's also better to get them a little older as far as potty training goes - I brought home one pup at 6 weeks and one at 9 weeks and there was a huge difference in the ability to "hold it" lol
