Has anyone else had a problem with these bottles? Sometimes it flows great, other times it doesn't seem to flow at all. :skeptical: I'd read good things about these online previously. What bottle do you recommend?

Yes, unfortunately many people have had the flow problem with these bottles. I use glass Lixit bottles that are usually found in the bird aisle in Petsmart. Some I have had on the cages for several years and never had any leaking or flow problems. To wash them, I just toss them in the dishwasher.

Thanks! After posting this I was browsing further and saw some people talking about the Lixit bottles. I'm going to head to Petsmart to look for them shortly.

i have several of the super pet ones and I consistently have problems with the smaller ones. the larger ones seem to work better.

i have one plastic lixit round water bottle that has purple writing and was made especially for chins. not sure where I got it but that has to be my favorite bottle. water always flows and hardly ever leaks.

I have five super pet glass bottles and i have no real problem with them. They do leak a bit if the air pressure is off however. So after filling a bottle, tap the end several times to get the air pressure stable. You may have to do it again once attached to the cage, as sometime it gets off ballane in transport.

I have no real problems with the superpet glass bottles and the only problem i have is the same with Godofgods which is the leaky water.

I used them for a while and didn't really have any issues with flow. The key for me was to always leave air in them, I only filled them up half way since I refill every day anyways, but leaving at least an inch of air should be fine. And then when you put them on the cage either tap or shake them to get the vacuum set.

Thanks for all of the replies! I'm going to keep my Super Pet bottle just fill it less and order a Lixit bottle from Petsmart because our store doesn't carry them even though they do use them in all of their small animal cages. Although I think I'll check to see if our one local, smaller, non chain store carries them or anything they may recommend first.

Check in the bird aisle as well. My local Petsmart doesn't sell the Lixits in their store but there is another bottle that is very similar to the Lixit but the brand is called "All Living Things".

I've noticed with mine if my chins move their fleece out of the way (and it's not underneath to absorb the water) there will be little puddles under the water bottle. I've been thinking about checking out the Lixit bottles.
