Well it's that time again! I just thought I'd put up an fyi for anyone else who ships, since I didn't notice this until just today.

USPS increased their priority prices again. Although the flat rate envelope went down from $4.95 to $4.90.

Medium flat rate boxes are now $10.70
Large flat rate boxes are now $14.50

It stated that they're about a 3.3% increase.

You can see the new prices here

How fun! or not..

Oh man...why? The gas prices went down...they need to increase again? All this does is make FedEx more attractive because they have a much better tracking system and seem to get packages to places faster. If it's $0.50 more for better service and I don't have to go in and have to see ANGRY people to drop off my boxes, I am thrilled to go with another option.

I'm not too happy to use the USPS because they don't come here to pick up boxes...I am forced to use their annoying label system AND still drive to the post office to drop off boxes to get the best price. And, their service often isn't very good....

I send packages through UPS as its cheaper for those big boxes.
But priority flat rate has been SWEET!

I was just thinking last night the price of stamps is out of this world.
Gas prices inching up.

Fed's are going to raise the interest rate this year.
That good for nothing federal health care crap is going to tax us to death. I have one of those premium cadilac policies and figure that the govt is going to tax us about $960 a year. And if it passes your pay is going to be slammed for 4 years before it even starts!! :hair:

And the folks on Capital Hill, Congressional staff, federal employee's and retired federal employees will be excempt from having to be forced to take the federal health care policy. Send Nancy Pelosi and Dingy Harry Reid a thank you. :SarcasmA:

BACK IN SEPTEMBER THE HELLER AMENDMENT WAS STRUCK DOWN STATING THAT FEDERAL EMPLOYEE'S WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT. AND THEN MR. HELLER OF NEVADA ALSO PURPOSED THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PROVE YOUR UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP IN ORDER TO HAVE IT. STRUCK DOWN TOO!!!!

And those health care savings accounts.....You know, the HSA?? Well they won't be tax deferred if this crap gets passed. You start using it and you'll be taxed. Your taxed when you get paid and then you put the money in the account and then your taxed again when you use it.

Oh and I forgot to mentiont the DEATH TAX may expire next Jan 1, 2011. That means if you die next year, the federal governemnt will get about 40% of your estate. Angry now????

My understanding is that postal rates have been going up slower than inflation. However, costs for the post office has been going up faster than that. Unfortunately for the post office, not as many people use them any more, between email and various package delivery services. The post office has been talking about cutting a number of services for some time now, because they are being heavily subsidized by the government due to the fact that they are unable to bring in as much money as it costs to run the service. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why the costs of mailing things is going up.

I have no idea what the health care debate has to do with this.

I personally didn't put this up to debate why it went up. I just did it as a courtesy for those who don't tend to mail real often, so perhaps they wouldn't notice the increase and would charge the old rate. :))

I mean, it is what it is. When you have to buy things online you have to pay what's charged.

I just don't like prices going up. Everything else went up dramatically in the last couple of years. So amongst the 50,000 other essentials that have gone up yet another one has gone up. It's so much fun to wonder how the heck we are ever going to be able to get ahead with everything going up despite a recession....
