In 2 months time I will be travelling with Marty from the South Island to the North Island of New Zealand which I will be doing over 2 days. All up it's about 15hours of traveling.

I've got a small cage for the over night stop which is 2 x 2 x 1.5 ft. As well as a carry cage which he will be travelling in. Is there anything I should do before hand to get him ready for the trip? Like getting him used to his smaller cages by having them available to explore during play time? Apart from bringing him home from the breeder 5months ago he hasn't been in the car, so I'm worried he's not going to like travelling in the car again.

Most chins just fall asleep in the car, you can put the cages out during playtime so he can get used to them.

When chins travel to a show, they spend entire weekends in a cage no bigger than a carrier, usually Friday, Saturday, Sunday. There's no need to acclimate them to anything. When you are ready to go, load them up in the carrier and go. Just be sure you keep them out of direct sunlight in the car (sometimes those baby shades really help) and that your a/c is working and you're good to go.
