My boyfriend and I have been pet sitting for a friend of ours, we have pet sitted for him many times and know his house and kitty pretty well. Our friend left on Saturday evening, James went on Sunday to take care of Milo, the kitty, he saw Milo petted him and gave him food. On Monday I went and took care of Milo, I saw him, petted him and when I left he was standing at his food bowl eating. On Tuesday, James went to take care of him and when he got to the house, our friend's brother was there. James did not see Milo but wasn't worried. On Wednesday, both James and I went to take care of Milo and when we went to the house we walked in on our friend's brother and a young lady... let's just say we left pretty quickly as the brother and the young lady where "busy." So we again did not see Milo. On Thursday James went to feed Milo and again did not see him. Tonight, James went again and still did not see Milo! James also noticed the food and water had not been touched, he searched the house and could not find Milo. James called me at work and told me, and as soon as I got off work I went and searched for Milo. I looked all over for at least an hour and could not find him. His food has not been touched. Milo is not a scared cat, he would not hide from us, he also always eats his soft food right away and it has not been touched. I am so worried I don't know what to do. James and I are going to search again in the morning and if we don't find Milo we are going to call our friend's Dad, our friend is all the way in Costa Rica. I do not know our friend's brother, he was adopted by our friend's parents about 2 years ago and I am not sure how old he is or anything. I am just worried that he may have let Milo get out somehow. I don't think I am going to sleep at all tonight, I am thinking of just going and staying at our friend's house all night. I just know in my heart something is wrong.

Please keep Milo in your thoughts and hopfully we will find him tomorrow morning.

Look in closets and in any closed doors, though Milo would probably be meowing. Call the local animal control and police and report the cat missing. Physically check all the local shelters and see if you can see him. Call the local vets and report him missing. Go outside and call him. See if you can "sound the can opener" outside to attract his attention. Let the neighbors and neighborhood kids know the cat is missing and what it looks like. The more people who have eyes out for this cat, the more likely you are to find him. Keep us posted and I wish you the best of luck in finding poor Milo. How old is the brother who was 'busy' with a young lady? Geeze!!

I don't know a thing about his brother, he was adopted around 2 years ago and I am not really sure if it was a real adoption, I am just guessing maybe he is 18? He is using our friend's car while he is gone, so he is atleast old enough to drive, the only time I have ever seen him was the other night when we walked in on him... not only was it dark but also based on what we walked in on, I turned my head quickly. I guess he is using our friend's house as a hang out place while he is gone. Our friend has us pet sit because we live right up the street from him, much closer then his family. James and I worried and upset, we have 4 kitties of our own and they mean the world to us. The can opener trick is a good idea, I will try that. I will also see if I can find I pic of Milo and walk around the neighborhood tomorrow. Milo is a very sweet, older, long haired kitty who just likes to sit around and purr. Our friend is a HUGE animal lover as well and he is going to be beside himself if something happens to Milo. I am sure if he knew Milo was missing he would be getting on the next flight out of Costa Rica.

no signs of Milo this morning, he is just not in the house, all the food is there and the litter boxes haven't been used. We called our friend and his father, a left them both messages. Our friend is due back tomorrow :cry3:

Again, let animal shelters, police, etc. know he is missing. Check the shelters and actually look for him even if they say they don't have a cat matching his description. Let the local vets know he's missing, too.

Just got back from meeting up with our friend's father. We spoke to the neighboors, went to the vet up the street, called and emailed animal control and posted a message on craigslist. We even went so far as to drive around his ex girlfriend's apartment complex, hoping we might see him in a window. They have not been on very good terms. We finally got in touch with our friend, (he doesn't get a good signal where he is at) he is very upset and he said that his brother is not very responable and thinks he probably left a door open. He also called his ex girlfriend and she said she doesn't have Milo.

We left food and water out for him, we are going to go out and walk the trails around the area in a few mins

I hope you can find him! I know I would be very upset if a pet I was sitting for went missing because of someone elses negligence.

Suzi, any update on this cat? I've had cats missing for several days and finally return. They almost always return to their home. It's just the nature of the beast. I hope this kitty does find it's way back home.

Thanks everyone for your good thoughts, I don't have any info to share as of yet. My boyfriend and I have tried to get in contact with our friend for a couple of days but we just keep missing each other because of work (all 3 of us work odd hours) I am hoping Milo is safe at home and I will let you all know what I find out.

I logged in from my Hawaii vacation just to see if Milo turned up! I hope kitty was found safe and sound.

Thank you everyone!!! I BEYOND HAPPY to report that just about 5 mins ago we got a text that MILO IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been dancing around my apartment and hugging all my kitties!!

I don't know anything else, it really just happened and my boyfriend is calling him right now to find out everything!! I hear him asking him right now.... let's listen in... omg he said something about Milo being on the roof!!

Okay just finished talking to my boyfriend after he got off the phone - Our friend's name is James (my boyfriend is also named James, just to confuse you! We call our friend James R) came home tonight and heard meowing, he looked all around and then looked up and saw Milo on the roof! He said when Milo saw him, he jumped onto a tree branch but then jumped back onto the roof. His neighbors came out to see what was going on and James R pointed to the cat on the roof, the neighbors got a ladder and James R went up and got Milo. He said Milo drank and ate and then went and jumped on the sofa. James R asked my James to ask me if Milo should go to the vet and I yelled out, YES!! So James R is taking Milo to the vet now. Have no idea how Milo ended up on the roof, maybe he has been there the whole time or maybe he went up a tree and got on the roof trying to get into his house and has only been on the roof for a few days, important thing is Milo is home!! My boyfriend reminded me that when we met up with James R's father, his father said something about hearing meowing that sounded like it was coming from up in a tree but he said he had bad hearing so he wasn't sure, maybe he really was hearing Milo!

Oddly enough, while James R was in Costa Rico, he was walking in the rain forest and found a kitten, he said the kitten walked right up to him, and somehow James R arranged to bring the kitten back to the US with him - he is a huge kitty lover (this all happened before we discovered and reported Milo was missing) so as James R has been waiting for Milo to return home, he has had this kitten to keep him company, if he had not had that kitten I think he would have lost his mind with grief. I have always believed that God brings special critters into your life, as I know He did for me and I certainly think God had a hand in that little kitten walking up to James R as He knew James would need the little kitten just as much as I am sure the kitten needed James R.

Again thank you all SO MUCH for your prayers. :)
