hey all,
last year my dad cut down his ginormous poplar tree and saved a lot of it stacked up in his backyard. it was under snow all winter. this tree has never had pesticides on it (we planted it when we moved into the house in 1983). the branches on top of the pile look a little yucky on the ends, but the middle of them seem ok. the slabs from the trunk look good.
would it be safe to use branches and slabs from the trunk as chew toys and shelves, even though they've been outside and under snow? i'd do the scrub/boil/bake of course.
