Anyone have any grooming tips they would like to share.....

I know grooming isn't my strong point and I don't want it to ruin my chin's chances.... I've been working on technique but wanted to hear from others on what you guys do :)

Looks like a nice group to show. Definately take the time to dust thoroughly for at least 3 weeks. Every day until 3 days before the show so the dust has time to fall out. As far as combing goes, I use a 3 and a 1. 3 first then the 1. Be careful with your lint roller - I have seen them grab fur out and leave adhesive on the fur - ugh. Also groom from lightest to darkest. I am not the best comber - I tend to err on the lighter side. If you are unsure about how to do it so you dont pull fur watch someone who is skilled and get tips in person. It's way easier to watch someone who knows what they are doing rather than try to explain it!

thanks :) I try to comb well a few months in advance too before I start religiously dusting. I have a 2 and 3 comb and am expecting my 1 in any day now.
I hope I become better at it.

Man, those are some good-lookin' chinnies!!!

Check out the whiskers on that violet in the second picture!!! :hearts:

She looks like Mae West saying, "Why don't you come up and see me some time???"

Jen, I have a really small string for the Ohio show - if you need any grooming help, let me know! I might let Mike do some of the grooming to get some practice so I could certainly help you.

I love that violet girl!

Dee that would be awesome! Your chins always do well so I definitely trust your grooming abilities!
Ive never actually watched you do it though, to get tips so I will have to in May.

Violet girl is a large girl for her age! I am so proud of how she has developed, so I am hoping my grooming doesn't bring her down on the table.

Im debating selling her at the show. I really don't need her or have room for her but she is so docile and lovable! Definitely one of the best I have raised so far.
Puff's kit is getting more and more plump as well. Ebony isn't very big but Ill get some good critiques on him so I can improve my ebony line. Hes got sapphire in him as well.
All 3 will most likely be available at the show for sale.

We're just bringing a couple of chins so that'll take me just a little bit to groom. I'll definitely help you out.

:)

Who is the violet out of? I'm guessing Frankie... who is the mom?

Mom was Chardonnay! Yes, dad was Frankie :) I have him with Isis now, Im pretty sure shes pregnant, getting pretty large and she usually has a good size litter. This violet girl was alone in her litter but she turned out beautiful!

It's easy! You need to send an email to me with Violet's pictures - the more the better - her age, breed, gender we know, place of residence, and then tell us why she is special! The more info the better, as lots of folks have never seen a chinchilla who visit our site, so will be curious!

Email the nomination to Pet (the at sign) PetoftheDay.com or you can even PM me here! For place of residence, just city or town/state is fine, we do not need and wouldn't ever publish anyone's exact address!

Hope that helps!
