Poplar Wood

If I'm going to buy poplar wood from Homedepot, does it have to be Kiln-Dried? Or is that just for pine?

I have not found KD poplar, and I think regular poplar is ok. I will warn you with this though- I built a bunch of toys and a house from poplar, and took them all back out. Chins chewing on pine or applewood is like a whisper compared to them sawing on a really hard wood like poplar. I removed it for my sanity and sleeping patterns.

I have a poplar in my back yard. I read it's okay to give this to my chin but I have to clean it in salt water and then dry it in the oven or in the sun. Is this okay? He's has only chewed it a few times but seems to enjoy it.
