Hey guys. I found this doll that I want to give my chin that's made of polyester fibre and is stuffed with the same material rather than that stuffing dolls are usually made with. Anyway- I'm aware that you're all very big on the fleece because it's safe for chins and many other materials are not. I looked up what polyester fibre is made of and I read that it's composed of half wool and half cotton. Safe or no?

Any fiber or material eaten by a chin can cause impaction--even fleece. I would say no to the toy--it's always best to err on the side of caution.

Fleece is a polyester (unless you're talking about wool) fabric actually, which is plastic. People use it because it's not a threaded material so if a chin eats it, the threads won't entangle in the digestive tract of the animal, but it's not safe for chins to eat it. It's just a safer alternative if your chin doesn't eat fabric.

That statement contradicts itself... polyester is a threaded plastic polymer. The benefit of polyester no-pill fleece is that it falls to pieces instead of long strings that can make knots. They can still make bezoars, but are less likely to.

Cotton or wool is not safe because the digestive system cannot break them down.

Polyester fill is usually the polyester threads like in teddy bears.
