I was wondering if I could make a 6-in tall barrier to keep shavings and poo relatively inside a ferret nation, rather than flying outside of it. If I can, what would be the best way to attach it to the cage?

Do your chins nibble the glass? Is it OK for them to?

How are you attaching them to the cage?

That's kinda neat too. I used wood, but the plexi makes it look a little more open. Is it hard to clean or does it stay pretty clean?

Stays pretty clean but a moist wipe or rag does the trick. A few things to remember:

If they're on the inside of the cage, they're easier to clean but can pose issues with the tray.

If they're on the outside of the cage, a little harder to clean but not generally an issue.

Chins don't really seem to bother them, but if they did they'd need removed.

Plexiglass is not especially cheap...measure first, cut once, be sure of measurements cause a mess up is costly ;)

Are you just bolting it to the cage? Did your chins every try to chew on the glass or metal?

Yes, just bolt/nut/washer to fix it to the cage after holes are drilled. And as I said above, mine did not try to chew it but if they had, I'd have removed it.
