Has anyone here had experience with using Plexiglas in their chinchilla cages? I am not talking about top to bottom so that there is no air circulation, but rather as a poop guard. When they chew on it can they destroy it?

I had a good suggestion on another forum on how to do it so that they won't chew on it. Husband has agreed to make them for me, excited to see how they turn out! Who knows, maybe they will soon be available on my new Chinnychews website when it is done next week.

Yes, they will destroy it if they can get to the edges. I've used plexi before in fleece houses and it worked as long as they didn't chew through the fleece and get to the plexi itself.

I have a set of small one level cages that I use for injured our pregnant females that is separated by plexiglas. They can't get to any edges so they haven't bothered it. It is very easy to clean and allows light to pass so they aren't so dark inside

I have some plexiglas in one of my cages in between the wire shelves and the cage. I have two sets which are in the corners where they pee alot. My husband screwed them on so when they need to be cleaned I can take them out.
