I got up this morning.. normal routine... making salads and meat mixes for the masses here, but something was very strange ..very quiet. Usually, when a fridge door opens and salad bags rustle, River wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks like a maniac.. you can hear him down the street, if you know what to listen for..
...but not this morning?
I rush in to see River and shake a salad bag at him (I buy Trader Joe's "southern style greens" mix when my own garden source is low), call his name and no pigger? Where's River? I found my boy laying on his side, barely moving and really gaping/gasping for air ...and snatched him up!
He must've got something from one of the random kidlets running through the house, now that it's summer time, and it didn't agree with him. He has a slight gut stasis issue ..but is quickly recovering with some Pedialyte/Critical Care cocktail ..sipped through a hefty syringe. He's eating a variety of hay samples from his hay stack ..and he's chewing his Oxbow, on his own.
Two very large masses of poo have escaped his little bum, too.. so I think we are on the mend, but he sure gave me a good scare! (He's another dumped kid, so I don't know if he's prone to this or not.. but he hasn't done it with me in the few months I've had him.) I'll definitely be keeping my eye on him ..and those other crazy kids!
Keep him in your prayers, please..
