My son has a chinchilla named Zeus it was a birthday gift a year ago and we have kept everything the same we have not change his food or his bedding but we notice that Zeus was loosing his wiskers were not sure if he is pulling them or just butting them off but my kids are freaking out and I've been looking it up on line and doing some reasearch on line but some say don't worry they will grow back some day try wont and I just don't know what else to do we have not change anything this is pretty new for us Gould I take Zeus to the vet Gould I be worried ? Is there anything I can do . I'm worried as well as my kids please help I'm item for suggestion or advise. Thank you in advance.

Is anything worn down in the cage that he could potentially be catching his whiskers on? I'd run your hand along everything in there just to make sure he's not snagging them on anything rough or sharp.

Is there any hair loss around his nose besides the whiskers? He could have the start of fungus. Check his cage, they an rub off whiskers on a lot of things (bars, houses, ledges....). They will grow back but it does take time epending on why he lost them.
