I didn't know I could. Now I might start. We'll see if they are interested.
 
I destroyed one of my best pans boiling pine cones way back. Like Dawn said, the chins aren't that impressed by them....they have to be prepared properly and, ugg, the effort isn't worth it just to have the chins not do more than sniff them.

They can be safe, but there are some that are just way too sappy and shouldn't be given.
 
i have. my chins pretty much tossed them around but didnt do much chewing. you have to select open non sappy ones and than boil them for a longer than usual and bake on very low temp for a while. it was a lot of work but it is worth a try to mix it up a bit
 
We have pine cones (ponderosa to be exact) all around my neighborhood. I've considered processing them for the birds, but never really considered the chins. Sounds like a PITA to work with though.
