Hi guys! Me again, with yet another question!!! First off let me say you guys are awesome!!!!!:wink3: i have learned a ton from you all and am thrilled to be learning so much about Angel! ive noticed that she is slightly less curious about us than she was in the beginning, and doesnt really interact as much as she was. She still approaches us and sniffs, even sits in our hands, but thats about it. How long should i wait for her to get used to us before we initiate out of the cage playtime? We have had for for two weeks on Friday, and she seems to be settling in okay, spends time each day with cage doors open and stuff, but i dont want to try too early and risk freaking her out. Any suggestions?!

Dont grab her. if you have the kind of cage that you can open a door and let her run about in a safe room that is a good option. than you could sit on the floor with a magazine and let her get used to you. just let her be and let her explore the surroundings in the beginning. eventually she may trust you enough to just pick her up.
i have a couple chins that will literally jump into my arms. others i have to wait until they are in their house & i carry the whole house into the bathroom. every chin is different.

Dont grab her!! very good info. However, in my experience. Letting your chin just jump out of the cage even in a chin safe room is not okay. example. My sister's chin Chia i took care of for about a year, was used to jumping out of the cage when i open the door for play time. and then every time i open the door she just jumps out. Then we moved her to the living room of my sister's house. Since she was used to just jumping out, she did and the cats chased her into the bathroom. Pretty much scared her half to death. She's fine now tho.

So in my opinion i would focus on getting her to know the only way out is to be in your hands. or in a house. all my chins now know this and always jump in my hands, although rosco jumps in my lap. This way I can control where they go and how they get there, there by diminishing the opportunity for damage to both the chin and house.

ALso, its fun to have them jump into your hands, and then they give you chinny kisses.

I know some chins dont like this, but even my sister's chin was trained to get on my back if she wanted out. it is possible!!
