It's 98 degrees today with a heat index of 112!!! :temp: :cry4: :hot:

My hotel AC can't keep up with this crazy heat so I am standing here in a jacket, long sleeve shirt, and long pants in a room that's 82! Every time a guest comes in the front door they let in more of the awfulness outside.

The people up north should thank their lucky stars they are there, because this is just ridiculous!

Ewww that does sound yucky! It's 64 and breezy (but humid) here, I'm a bit chilly actually. Sending cool thoughts your way!

Yeah, and we get to complain about -20 degrees in the winter.
Idonwannahearit!
Is there a perfect place??

Oh, yuck! That's awful, Crysta.
And Rickman...you can deal w/ -20. You can always add layers in the winter...you can only take so much off in the summer before going to jail for indecent exposure.

I would be more than happy with -20. Like Laura said, you can layer and layer and layer some more. Or go inside with gas heat and a fireplace. Here, unless you are in a brand new house with amazing insulation you have to deal with your AC running all day and not being able to keep up. :( Luckily, even though I live in a house built in 1921 my bedroom stays amazingly cold for whatever reason. My living room not so much though. When I left work the AC was set on 73 (keeps the bedroom at 68) and it was 77 in there. Blech.

And it is now 83 in the lobby! Yay!

LOL if you never had -20, then you have no clue how cold that really is. The heat index was up over 100 here too, but I am not sure that we have the HUMIDITY you have :(

Hope it cools off for you!

We've been anywhere from 70 to 90 degrees with 95% humidity Crysta for the last week and a half. This is "don't go out of the house or you'll die" weather. I am not a fan of summer. Bring on spring and fall.

60 degrees here today and rainyish. Because I am a fabulous chinchilla owner my bedroom window is/was open when there is no rain to keep the chins nice and cool and happy. I have pulled out the sweat pants, extra blanket and then the comforter to sleep in again.

You turn into Nanook at 60 degrees? Laurie - you wuss! 50-55 is excellent sleeping weather - doors open, windows open, fans blowing. Aaaaahhhh - bring on fall. :)

I don't know how you got away without the humidity, only 40 miles north, Laurie!!
It was about 90% all day, drizzley, and foggy in the Loop!
If you're outside at all, you feel like a sponge!

It was 106 on my back porch around lunchtime. I jumped into the pool to cool off. Then I looked at the pool thermometer...94F :temp:

Agreed completely! The colder it is in my room the better I sleep. During the fall/winter here I often had the windows open. I loved it when it got around 50 at night inside. I was all snuggly in my blanket.

I'm still opening up my windows at night here. We had a gorgeous weekend - it didn't get above 75....today it was warmer, but not too bad.

I hope it cools down for you, Crysta. That humidity would kill me. It's not to bad here with the low humidity even if it does get warm. When it is really warm I worry about the chins and won't leave the house unless my husband stays home. Those people in Phoenix have weather that is 100 to 120 degrees as the high the whole summer...I'm glad we're up high here. :)

Thank God Walmart had a sale on sun dresses a couple months back. Ive been in dresses every moment possible while out of work. I might even switch to skirts for a while for work. Its horrible here. Its almost 2am and its still above 80*! The pups dont even like running around for too long outside anymore.

Crysta, I am dreading going back to work this week. A lot of people kick the rug up in the lobby and it keeps the automatic doors open. Which, even in slow season, Im too busy to fix most of the time so those doors STAY open.
