Do antibiotics (Baytril, Cysapride) ever cause nasal discharge? Or cause it to come forth — like how a human gets worse before getting better?

He didn't have the brown nose discharge before today! It looks like tiny nose poops.

I've been giving him the aforementioned meds, conofite foot lotion, and triple AB for eyes.

Here's the journey so far:
Eye gunk
Vet visit
Vet prescription

Hope this isn't something new and unrelated :(

Have you called your vet regarding the discharge? It's been almost 3 years since I've dealt with a chin and a URI but I've never seen brown discharge.

He's not doing well at all, 3 days into the Baytril now. :(

I got Critical Care for him today, and have had to force feed it to him because he's not eating. And I thought the Baytril & Cysapride were hard to get in his mouth! Easy as pie compared to trying to shove down the required tablespoon (dry; more once wet) of CC.

I have no idea how to stop it from going all over his chin. I've tried the burrito method, etc. It's just so messy — is this anything to be concerned about? I try to wipe it, but I'm worried that his fur stays wet. Even tried blow-drying him, but he hates that. Will it be ok?

He's just huddled in the corner of his cage, not eating, barely pooping, not doing much at all. I feel so bad for him, I don't know how we're gonna make it through another week and a half of this...

Sorry, one more question — is it ok to store wet Critical Care in the fridge until the next feeding?

I had a hard time getting him to finish it last night so we stopped for a while, but I don't know if I'm supposed to throw it out if it's been sitting in the fridge?

Thank you guys

I think you should make enough, if possible, only for that feeding unless you could use the rest in the next couple of hours. Yes, definitely store it in the fridge. He should really be eating critical care quite a few times a day so that he doesn't go into stasis. Smaller meals at a time but more frequent worked with me.

Thank you!

I tried to only make a tablespoon (dry), but once water is added, it's SO much to feed. It takes us like 40 mins to get through it; poor thing fights it and I don't blame him.

The thing is I can only do 3x a day max, because I have to go to work and can't go home in the middle of the work day to feed him, so I feed in the morning, after work, and later at night.

I'm going to go get Acidophilus & ACV today after work, and try to follow these instructions:

Probiotics in the [critical care]
Apple Cider Vinegar [in the water] to stimulate appetite.

Exercise is beneficial with chins who have abdominal pain/bloat as it stimulates the peristaltic process and can initiate gut motility.
Gentle abdominal massage will also aid the process and can relieve pain by encouraging gut movement. [/QUOTE]

YAY HE POOPED!! A lot this morning! I was so worried last night; he hadn't pooed at all in hours :( but after the Acidophilus last night, it looks nearly-normal again!

So happy about poo hahaha
