I get my love of animals from. I was chatting with my dad this weekend and I NEVER knew him, his brother, his sister and my grandma and my grandpa raised all KINDS of animals growing up. They had chickens, turkey's, ducks, bunnies, golden pheasants, ring neck pheasants, silver pheasants, chuckers, bob white quail, pharaoh quail, and peacocks. They also had cats and dogs. They also rescued a baby raccoon and a hawk.
I really had no idea they raised animals (mostly birds) but I always knew my grandma liked birds. He told me they had hundreds of animals and had rows of cages covering the area the size of a large house. And the basement was full of incubators.
Keep in mind this was back in the 60's/70's but I thought it was so interesting and I wanted to share. He told me lots of stories about raising and breeding them.
And we googled pictures as well:
Bob White Quail
Chucker
Golden Pheasants
Lady Amherst Pheasant
Peacock
