My girlfriend and I are of course doing our research, but one question came to mind

We found a breeder here in Minnesota, she'll have 2 standard males around the time we're getting our FIRST Chin, and they are brothers.

IF she doesn't want to seperate them (I know a lot of people don't like doing that), if they've been together since birth, would it be okay to keep them in the same cage?

I haven't been able to find much about it, so I figured I'd go ahead and ask. I'd feel REALLY bad taking one brother away from the other so..

Yes the brothers can live in the same cage as long as they remain friends. Chances are they will be friends for life but there is a chance they won't. If they don't get along then they will have to live in separate cages.

As stated above, they will remain buddies more than likely, but just like friends they can have a falling out, so be prepared if this happens to have two of everything.

Extra emphasis on two of everything. Even if you don't think you need it, it's best to be prepared. I have a father and son who had some issues once the son became a teenager. Two food bowls, water bottles and dust baths helped a lot, but they still have squabbles occasionally.

I pay close attention to bent or broken whiskers, excessive squabbling, tufts of fur around the cage, and overly submissive or dominant behavior. If one decides to block the other from the food bowl, weight loss would occur over time, but hopefully you'll never have to worry about that.

I share the worry.
I have two cages. One with a father/son and the other with a mother/2 daughters.

My males have been together over a year, and my girls i think since feb earlier this year (2011) And so far they are all doing fine in their respective cages. But their is always a possiblity of problems developing, jsut like with any two ppl. You need to be prepared to deal with that should it arise.

I always have spare cages in case a fight breaks out. It's fine housing them together. The lady will sell them individually, should you only want 1.
However if you end up getting 2 and a fight breaks out, contact me and you can use one of my spare cages until you get another one.
