Hi All, My Chin Kira is not chewing on anything anymore.

A little background, she broke a tooth about 5-6 months ago the vet there removed the tooth which I now hear was a bad idea. But anyway she had a close call with the infection and lost weight (currently 1.1 lb). The tooth has grown back but due to her previous pain she is not eating her hay or any ruffiage.

Since then I have be despeartly trying to get her chewing on things again, I have run out of things to buy at pet stores and the vet says I simply have to get her chewing again or I will loose her. I lost her sister due to an infection about a year ago and am having a rough time dealing with the reality that if she doenst start chewing soon I will loose her too.

She is now going through an eye infection in which she just scrapped by again.

She is still active and happy to come out and play but she needs to chew and gain weight Please see her foods below and help is greatly appreciated.

1. oxbow timothy hay
2. Pumkin
3. Critical care mixed with stage one baby food
4. Leafy romane
5. Oats
6. Vitafresh pellets

Chew toys(none working)
1. Willow sticks
2. Apple sticks
3. Bark
4. Pumice levels
5. willow ball

Get rid of the romaine lettuce and vitafresh pellets. She needs quality pellets. The tooth that has grown back is now probably uneven with the others and she probably needs trimmed.

The vet needs to get quality xrays. It could be root elongation causing the eye issue.

If she's not eating, you need to be hand feeding.

She is eating right now everything but the hay. I hate to say it but I will not force feed another chin I tortured her sister right up until the end with it and it never brought her back.

I would also say that you should mixed the CC with the pumpkin instead of any other baby food. Where do you live so many some one here can direct you do a 'chin knowledgeable' vet?? The chin should probably be on pain meds. - if she hurts she will not eat/chew on her own.

I live near nashville, but have a great vet here recommended by a local breeder. She has been on and off pain meds but they have never gotten her chewing again. I had vet check her teeth last time and he said spurs were small and not hitting her gums that we should give her chance to take care of them on her own.
