I think it kind of looks like pacman.

People like to ask how hard chins bite. I need a better answer. ...lol

Oh my gosh, I am so glad my chinchillas do not try to chew on metal!! Just looking at that makes my teeth hurt!

Kinda looks like a newborn parrot

I was curious so I googled "newborn parrot", and it's crazy how true that is! Wow!

That's pretty massive chewing! It seems like it would be dangerous for him to swallow too, so hopefully he didn't! Good luck in figuring out a way to curb this! Although I guess you might just need to steer clear of metal he can get to (assuming your chinchilla is male)

Is this suppose to be a joke???
No, that's a real life breeding collar carved by real life chinchilla teeth. I'd like to say it is a rare occurrence but I've got a can full of them in various states of chewed. Once they get too chewed you can't use them as it allows the females to get into the run.

Because if it isn't then why do chinchillas remain in their wire cage ???
Wire is a little different. Harder to get a grip on and chew through, though given time some chins will pull on the sides enough to break welds and create holes. Most older breeding runs have patches on them from this. Aluminum is also fairly soft but I've had them go to town on cast iron pans so can't really say that makes a whole lot of difference.

It's just one of those things that happens when you breed. Pictures are of some still useful ones off the top of the pile. I take them off and wash them when I rotate females or someone graduates to a bigger collar.
