no more vegas ?

My boyfriends boss screwed up some scheduling thing and said a job would take 5 hours, when it will take about 100 hours. (x300 or something..) So he's been working overtime (and getting paid straight time for it). Apparently his boss keeps saying that his vacation--that the boss approved last month and we booked--is in the way. My boyfriend approaches these problems differently than I would, I would say, "the vacation was approved by you, it's booked and I don't have $1600 to throw away." Instead, he just looks at him. So I may be on one end of the spectrum and he's on the other here, but he's not willing to even do anything. In the very least I would like him to straight out ask, "do I have to work this week? it would be beneficial to know NOW rather then the day before I fly out that I can't go."

OMG, that is horrible! Well, one thing you can do is call the airline and ask to push the flight tickets to another week/weekend. And call the hotel and ask to push the date back as well. You may have to pay some sort of fee, but it sure beats losing $1600!!

Gosh I'm so sorry that happened, I know you must be SO disappointed.

The whole situation sounds terrible. First, no one is suppose to work over time and get paid straight time. Second, see if you can change your reservation for another time. Good luck.

Sue, I don't mean to sound insensitive but take someone else! Don't miss out on your birthday present. If your BF can't go maybe you can go with a friend or relative. I would hate to see you miss out on this especially since it's a birthday present.

Agreed! If you can't find a friend to go, you can always see if one of the CnH peoples that lives in las vegas wouldn't mind showing you around! Fun way to meet new people.

Personally, I can't stand it when a guy doesn't stand up for himself (or a girl for that matter).

He seems pretty complacent... why wouldn't he at least say SOMETHING?
I wouldn't be walked all over like that! When my work pays me like 1/2 hour less by mistake, you bet that I'm going to make a fuss over it! I can't imagine my boss not paying overtime and getting away with it. The first place I would stop would be the labor board!

And just to say "oh, too bad about the vacation, oh well!" is being just as passive! Talk to him, show him that you're upset! You go girl!!
