Hey friends! We got some good April Fools news today! Lisa had a brain MRI done yesterday as she's had to have a lot of tests done before she can participate in a cancer study they've asked her to do. They know her cancer has spread to liver and kidneys, which is why they wanted her for the test. The test drug is designed to help pancreas and kidneys. If they found the cancer had again spread to her brain then she wouldn't be able to participate. The good news is--NO METS IN THE BRAIN! So the radiation has worked wonders and really did clear all the lesions in her brain.

We are very thankful because now she will get the chemo, Gemzar (spelling could be wrong) which targets the liver and also get the the test drug. At least we're hoping she will receive the drug and not a placebo.

The other good news is the test study is actually going to pay for a lot of things. She will have scans and MRI's much more often and they pick up the cost. Also if her insurance denies the cost of Gemzar the test study will pay for that as well.

So despite the grimness we've had lately this is such good news!

Lisa will be moving from her apartment to a nice little house she's rented and spend her time planting a garden and being leisurely. I'm excited because we will have the chance to spend Monday days together as I don't go into work until 11pm on Mondays. I told her maybe I could help her get a crochet project going!!! HA!

Thanks to everyone for their continued support and guidance. I appreciate all the warm wishes and love.

XXX OOO!!!!

That's very good news Laurie, so glad for you. Hope things continue to get better.

That is such great news! I am happy for your sister, best wishes for her not to get the placebo but the real drug.

It is so nice to hear some good news regarding your sister! Hopefully this study will provide what she needs to get healthy again!

That's AWESOME!! Hopefully this is just the beginning of continued good news!!!

Thanks everyone. We're happy with this news. We know the study Lisa is participating in will not ultimately do any good for her--she is terminally ill. But she could help pave the way for future cancer patients. If there's anything I would like more than my sister not to die from this horrible disease it would be that someday Triple Negative Breast Cancer is not the death sentence it is today. With this study perhaps they will be able to treat it just as aggressively as it is in it's own right. Maybe the future will keep sisters together for a long, long, long, time.

Sorry to hear that this study won't help her beat her cancer, but how wonderful that you, your sister, and your family are reaching out to help other people beat this terrible disease!

Thank God for good news. I will continue to keep her in my thoughts and prayers for more good news

Thanks for the update. It's great news to hear Lisa is looking forward to gardening and normal daily life. It is my hope the drugs will further pave the way for a new treatment for those who face the same situation. Her courage and strength is uplifting.
About ten years ago I was sitting in a car dealership waiting for my car to be serviced. I can't tell you the name of the magazine but the article was about new drugs for cancer and how they would target the very cells. At the time I believe chemo and radiation were the only treatment. It amazes me to think in just a few short years we have made great strides in the battle towards various forms of cancer. As we speak, a co worker and friend of my husbands has finished his chemo and is also using a new drug. We hope the best for him. He has continued to hunt and just bought a new kyack he plans to use soon. When ever I see Dane he too lifts me up. Cancer may have him but he sure as heck won't let it show. It merely slows him down a bit.

Again, I am so very happy to hear the good news. Yay Lisa!!!
