Will be me! I had no idea you could get the Nobel Peace Prize for doing nothing, so as that is the case, next year I'll be the recipient!

I'm willing to share my million dollars with my chin-n-hedgie friends!

We'll be partying in Wisconsin next year people, the only requirement, everyone has to wish for world peace before you enter the hallowed party grounds.

Who knows maybe the year after that one of you will be the recipient!

Laurie's just mad because he's from Chicago, hence a Bears fan! haha
I really don't understand why he got it either - there were many others more deserving!

Yes, I deserved it! I held the door open for another person yesterday. I should have won it. Didn't I promote interpersonal peace?????????????

 Laurie you're nuts! But I agree, and so do many others I've talked to. Since when does getting elected as president qualify you as a NPP recipient?

That is so ridiculous. If anything it should have been me for promoting inter-mutational chinchilla bonding. I also have a black velvet and a pink white living harmoniously together, what do I get??

You can't have it Laurie - I already signed up for it. I'm going to have a bunch of my friends send in a whole lot of testimonials about how I haven't done a single thing YET, but that sometime, in the future, before I die, I am for sure going to make huge changes somewhere, doing SOMETHING.

That should nail it for me for sure!

But... but! You guys are forgetting something major! He was born black! Therefore, he did something amazing that no other president did before him. THAT'S how he won!

.... I should win the prize just for figuring that out!

I think I'm going to win it next year because I promise with all my heart and a cherry on top that I'll make world peace! :)

For today Shetland gets the award for promoting peace by holding a door open for someone else! Who knows what could have happened if that door was slammed shut? An all out mall war could have occurred!

He was born HALF black.. Sooo.. does he only get half the prize now?

im assuming i may be one of the only supporters here.

from what ive heard is that he received the prize for being a person who has instilled a great sense of hope in people that hasnt been there for a while. and you have to admit that during the elections last year, he really did inspire a lot of people. young voters were going to the polls in larger numbers and for the first time in a while, people really did believe his "yes we can" motto.

i see that little has been done (to our knowledge), but he is doing his best to rebuild ties with nations who are not so keen with us. pretty much all of the nation's problems were there before he started (these things dont just pop up in a matter of months). and we have to remember that its not just him in charge of the country, he has a cabinet and congress definitely has a lot to do with it. in a way, its a good thing when congress takes a while to pass legislation. id rather them feel good about something instead of just signing a piece of paper.

thats just my 2 cents. i know there may be a lot of people who disagree, but in my opinion, i still have hope. and if anything, i feel like this will be his wakeup call to start delivering. dont assume im the happiest camper. i voted for him, i want him to succeed. but yea at the moment im wondering when he'll fulfill all his promises and i know i'll feel let down if he doesnt deliever. perhaps im just nieve with too much hope in a politician. yea....it'll be interesting if i ever get into politics lol (which, btw, is my goal).

I'd be surprised if any politician went through with all their promises that they made pre-election.

It's the fact of how politics work. You can make all the promises you want, but once you're in office, it doesn't always mean you can do whatever you want. And besides, who's not going to promise what the people want?

I won't get into why I disagree with their choice in recipient because I don't know that political and ethical debates belong on a chin forum :)) But it's safe to say I think it's a joke that he got it.

This is all I can think of to say--Mother Theresa. If you want to even try to begin to compare President Obama--a MILLIONAIRE--to Mother Theresa go ahead and try. Mother Theresa was a wonderful, humble and simple woman who lived in abject poverty. She didn't wear expensive designer clothes and eat fancy meals. She gave her absolute whole self all the time in everything she did. I'm not even Catholic and I love this woman.
Anyone who thinks Obama has the chops to stand up to Mother Theresa rather amazes me.

Take a look at that list. Look at the list of names that are there, see what they have accomplished, then tell me how that last name belongs on there. He got it for one reason, and I'm sure even he knows it. This doesn't get awarded for things you "might" do or things you "hope" you can do. It's given for the achievement of having already DONE it. This is the first time it's been given to someone who truly has done nothing to deserve it. Maybe he will deserve it at some point, maybe. But then why not wait until he achieves any peace keeping goals before giving this to him? It's not like he's going to be gone the next three nominations and they won't be able to find him.
