My mom brought home her new chin today. He is eight weeks old. I didn't realize he had not been separated from his mom and siblings yet before I went with my mom to pick him up.

The " breeder" just took him from his mom today. I have never experienced a kit being housed alone before right after leaving his mom. What can be done to help him adjust?

When Mira had her kits and they were separated they were upset, but had each other.

I think there is a very good chance his mother is pregnant again, the father was still in the cage. I was told the chins were from breeders, but the whole thing seemed kinda fishy to me.

The chins were in half of a FN cage, but had no hay, toys or anything to chew on.

He is scoping out his new cage now. Its full of toys and things to chew :)

Congrats on the new chin. Yes, it sounds like the breeder didn't have things quite "right."

As for the baby, watch and make sure he is eating and drinking ok on his own. In my experience, they adjust pretty quickly.

Also, he is small at that age so wait until about 7 months to add a wheel. He needs his energy to grow. Also, keep all the ledges low so he won't jump from too high up and possibly injure himself. Otherwise, just a nice house to hide in will help make him comfy.

He is actually going crazy in his cage right now!

He is checking out his chew toys, and eating up his hay. These are not things I am sure he has had before. He seems very pleased.

He is defiantly eating and drinking. I caught him doing it :)

He is actually about a month younger than my baby girl, Marika. Makes it easy to remember when he was born!

No wheel for him yet, thank you for the reminder. My girls still are waiting on a wheel, due to Marika being to young.

I will weigh him in the morning to make sure he is at a good weight for his age.

Thank you so much for the help! I'll make sure to let my mom know.
